Victoria Beckham A/W 2012

The most unlikely of front row celebrities sat together at Victoria Beckham’s Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection; David Beckham, a globally well-known sportsman and Anna Wintour, the god of everything that is fashion. David has recently modelled his new underwear range for H&M, which is shown on a billboard 5th avenue in New York, maybe the conversation wasn’t dead in the front row.
The collection was largely modelled around David, Victoria claims to be inspired by the sporting clothes that her husband and children wear for work and for casualwear, such as basketball shirts and football strips, she also said to want to include military clothing. The collection made feminine by creating the ideal hourglass shape using colour blocking and waist belts. Victoria designed this collection to be simplistic, sexy and suit all shapes.
The collection included only simple dresses, which were decorated by gold military inspired buttons, stitched detailing and pockets to create the perfect the ideal silhouette. The Fall collection is designed to be luxurious, knee length and tight fitting, Victoria uses body conscious dresses as a base for her simple, sexy collection. The dresses varied between military and feminine, the feminine dresses used knee length loose skirts combined with pointed high neck collars to create a modern outfit.
The shades in the collection closely reflected those Victoria herself wears, the main colours used was dark army green, black, lipstick reds, hazel and sky blues. The tight fitting black dresses were often decorated near the neck by gold buttons, the garments have high leg slits, and cinched in waists using buckle belts. They all had open ended zips on the centre back of the outfit, this makes body conscious dresses easier to fit each wearer properly. The sleeves alternate between full length and quarter length, again to fit with what Victoria herself wears. I think that this collection is a great way to show that designers should be wary of Victoria’s ever increasing fashion design talent.
