Yesterday I attended a fashion masterclass with my University, as I study fashion journalism at the University of Sunderland. We got the train to London Friday morning at attended a lecture at 2oclock at Sunderland's Canary Wharf Campus.
Our lecture was by four well known fashion journalists:
Rachel Richardson - Editor of Fabulous magazine
Hattie Crisell - Free-lance journalist, has previously interned at Red magazine, worked for 4Beauty and the Big Brother website, she currently reports the the New York magazine The Cut.
Hannah Almassi - Deputy fashion news and features editor at Grazia.
Louise Gannon - A show business journalist, recently interviewed Justin Bieber, writes for Elle and Grazia.
I'm struggling to find a photo of Louise, however here is a link to a collection of her articles!

They highlighted the importance of having to want a career in journalism, and how we shouldn't expect it to come overnight or easily. In order to become a successful fashion journalist you need to constantly become an expert in new topics, continuously network and be friendly to everybody you meet as everyone is a contact.
Knowing your journalism law and shorthand is essential (I'm currently learning both at University), be a positive intern and getting your foot in the door at fashion is an ongoing, time consuming process.
