Diane Von Furstenberg A/W 2012

Rachel Zoe, Oscar de la Renta and Molly Sims were among the celebrities to grace the front row at Diane von Furstenberg’s ‘Rendezvous’ Fall 2012 Ready-to-Wear collection, which was revealed at New York fashion week.

Diane is well known for introducing the wrap dress in 1973; this has been a key look in each of her collections since. Diane’s collections usually include a large amount of prints with high necklines, however this years Fall collection contrasts her typical collection completely, the inspiration for this line is the art of seduction. Diane herself states that the collection is “all about mystery”.

The collection was designed to be glamorous and sexy, the cuts of the clothes aim to give the wearer the ‘perfect silhouette’. The collection features the wrap dress with a modern twist, the fabric is draped across the shoulder, and tailored to be tight fitting with a leg slit, the dress is an impressive adaption to bring the wrap dress into 2012.

Although the collection is designed for Fall, Diane uses bright fresh colours such as chartreuse, mustard yellow and cerise. The colours work brilliantly together and would work fantastically to inject some colour into an average Winter wardrobe. The evening-wear is kept simple, it consists of bold colours with halter necks, plunging necklines and high leg slits in maxi dresses to increase the sultry look of Diane’s Autumn / Winter collection.

This collection proves that Diane’s rise to fame in the 1970’s was well deserved as she remains to keep true to her fashion origins manages to successfully and update them to introduce new themes into current fashion.
